Long-life Solenoids

When the coil is energized, the armature plunger performs a linear stroke movement. The maximum possible stroke depends on the magnet size and the shape of the armature. As a rule, the return of the armature plunger from the end position back to the starting position must be achieved by an externally acting (spring) force. Special versions with an integrated return spring are partially available.

The magnetic forces specified in the table are given without return force. By using appropriate cooling (e.g., mounting on an aluminum plate for heat dissipation), performance values can be increased by approximately 30% to 50%.

Thanks to double bearing support at both ends, the armature is precisely guided. The reduced bearing clearance and low friction allow for an extremely long service life (over 10 million switching cycles). In addition, this design enables the absorption of lateral forces, allowing the magnet to also function as a linear guide.
