Bistable Reversible Solenoids

A short current pulse moves the armature, causing a linear stroke movement. Bistable reversing solenoids use integrated permanent magnets to hold the armature in the desired position without power. Another short current pulse moves the armature.

Bistable reversing solenoids can hold the armature in two positions without power by utilizing two coils.
Due to pulse operation, these types of electromagnets require very little energy and are therefore also suitable for battery operation.
